ABOUT MODERN CROWN a brief history 300 years had passed since the white walkers had invaded westeros. it wasn't until after the dust from the fight had settled that everyone really understood what had just happened. bran stark's connection to the night king had allowed him and his undead army to cross to the south of the wall. jon snow lead the fight in the north against the invading einter, but his attemps seemed futile. that is until a fair haired maiden arrived astride a massive black dragon. it was then that the tides turned in favor of the living.

the songs written about the epic battle would later tell of how the dragon heroin, daenerys targaryen, sacrificed her life to defeat the night king, securing the safety of the human race. as life returned to as normal as possible, it was clear that westeros needed a strong leader that could be relied upon. unanimously, jon snow was placed in the iron throne (as cersei had been killed prior to the battle by her brother, jaime). he took on tyrion lannister, who had been a tremendous help with the dragons and the ultimate win, as his hand and samwell tarly as his grand maester. during the fighting, the truth of his parentage was revealed to him and he was given the choice of being legitimized as a targaryen or a stark. needless to say, he chose the last name of the family who had raised him as one of their own.

peace and propserity spread through the land and as theyears went by, westeros grew and changed. one hundred and eighty one years after the winter war, the monarchy was overthrown in a small rebellion and replaced with a federal republic. a president was elected by the people and his small council became his systen of checks and balances. there have been 16 presidents since, all searving for a five year term and no more than two terms in their lives. the year is 605 ac and ryder stark is nearing the end of his second term in office as president.
RULES TO FOLLOW activity activity will be judged every two weeks and removals will occur during that friday's set of adds. entries that qualify you for activity include private threads (be sure to add the mod journal to your filter so we can see the thread), group threads, narratives and play lists. anything that gets us into the mind of your character is accepted. played by's all faces are welcome so long as their actual age is within five years (forwards or backwards) of your character. we're also allowing families to choose the face of their matriach and patriach. after you have been accepted, you may leave us a comment in the dropbox stating who you are claiming along with any images you wish us to use. if you do not provide images, we will use our own. you may change your faces a total of three times, so choose wisely. challenges challenges are not accepted under any circumstances. faces are on a first come, first serve basis. if you wish to take over someone's premade you must wait until they are removed. activity removals are done every two weeks. request removals are done on an as needed basis. the golden rule "do unti others as you would have them do unto you". everyone who has ever played in any game should know this by now, but it's stated just in case. no god modding without permission (unless they're npcs) and no assuming that just because you know something that your character knows it as well. storyline requests before you are accepted, you must post in the storyline community. we request a link to that post in your application so you won't be accepted without it. we don't count posts in pbads for this, only for our community bannerhouses. you are more than welcome -- and encouraged -- to post in pbads however. character limit at this time we do not have a character limit. we trust that you'll bring in what you can handle. we just ask that you try not to have all characters from great houses. there are fewer premades for those houses so it takes away the chance for a new player to take on one of those roles if current players take them all.
GENERAL FAQ WHICH GREAT HOUSES ARE IN PLAY? arryn (the vale), tully (the riverlands), greyjoy (the iron islands), lannister (the westerlands), stark (the north), tyrell (the reach), martell (dorne), dondarrion (the stormlands). WHERE ARE THE OTHER GREAT HOUSES? the baratheon line ended with stannis. the targaryen line ended with viserys. while there were bastards from both lines still likely alive at the end of the winter war (gendry for example), they would have had no legitimate claim to anything and thus the lines would have died out. edmure tully managed to survive the winter war and was awarded his family lands back by jon as a thank you for the role he played, thus removing the frey family as a great house. WHAT BANNER HOUSE(S) CAN I PLAY? here is a list of the banner families as well as how many children hava been allotted for each family. we've given an age range for each child, though if your character doesn't exactly fit in that range, please reach out to us to discuss it. you may notice some large age gaps between some of the premades. those gaps can either be played as long breaks between siblings or as the children of the older premade (ie: if one premade is 50 and the next oldest is 20). SO WHO IS RULING? westeros is now being run under something similar to federal republic. the president rules for five years, can only hold office for two terms and is voted into power by the people of westeros. the hand of the king is now just simply called the hand and it's the equivalent of a vice president. the small council acts as his/her checks and balances. anything they wish to implement must be passed through them first. in the year of this game, westeros is facing a new presidential election. the ruler who is leaving office is ryder stark. banner houses can run for president but none have ever won. CAN I PLAY A MEMBER OF THE SMALL COUNCIL? you most certainly can! any of the houses (even banner houses) can serve on the small council. but just like with the American government, when the head hauncho changes, so does everyone else. so if you want your character to stay in that role, it's best they make buddies with whomever they think will win. WHAT OTHER JOBS ARE AVAILABLE TO MY CHARACTER? literally anything. doctor, teacher, painter, video gamer, underwater basket weaver... the sky is seriously the limit. each great house has a claim to a certain type of industry (to be determined by the family themselves), but by no means do the children or banner houses have to work in that field. WHAT PURPOSE DO THE GREAT HOUSES PLAY ANYMORE? the great houses are more like governors of states now, except they don't get voted out of office. the houses are in their seats until their line dies out, so the importance of heirs is still there. unions are made more for emotional reasons than for strategic ones, though matches are still arranged to keep families relevant from time to time. just like the governor of a state, they only have control over their designated area. WHAT COLLEGES ARE THERE? maesters are all but extinct now-a-days. the grand maester that serves on the small council is the only one of that title and now doubles as the dean to the citadel. with the disbandment of the order of maesters, the citadel was converted into a college that was open to all to attend. in the years since this conversion, a few other smaller colleges have opened up that offer degree concentrations the citadel doesn't. the citadel offers courses for the medical field, business, law, history, most modern sciences and mathematics. the next largest university is the dorne institute of technology, which caters to all things technical, mechanical and engineering. in the vale there is a liberal arts college that offers education in all the arts as well as the more ambiguous side of science. each kingdom has their own community college that offers two year degrees much like the two year degrees of our modern day. HOW DO THE POSITIONS OF LORDS/LADIES WORK? whomever is in control of the house is considered the lord/lady. so even if there are surviving parents, if they've already stepped down and given the house over to their eldest (or whomever they've chosen), they then become lord/lady so and so. to expand on the "whomever they've chosen" bit, if a family has no heir to pass their estate to (or even if they do but don't much like that heir) they can name a different successor who is of no relation whatsoever. so hypothetically, if lord greyjoy didn't want to leave his estate to any of his children because he finds them all to be weak and insufferable, he could chose anyone to his liking and make them his successor. once he passes, house greyjoy would no longer be a great house and his successors house would instead rise to that title. CAN I BRING IN A CHILD FROM A BANNER/GREAT HOUSE AND HAVE THEM BE MARRIED TO ANOTHER CHILD FROM A BANNER/GREAT HOUSE? of course! for example, if you wanted to bring in mormont b but have them currently be married to greyjoy b, that is more than okay. despite no longer having the mormont name, they would still take up that premade because they were born a mormont. WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN? CAN I BRING IN THE CHILD OF AN IN GAME COUPLE? yes and no. so long as the child is over the age of 18, we'll allow them to be brought in on a case by case basis. we'll look at the age ratio we have in game as well as the gender ratio and base a majority of our acceptance rate on those things. unless, of course, that child is being counted as a premade, then the only thing that will affect your acceptance is your examples. COULD I BRING IN A BASTARD CHILD? as of right now, no but this may change in the future. right now, we feel that we offer enough premade families to interest everyone but as popularity grows and more interest is shown we will open up to bastards, other houses, characters from other lands and even commoners/original characters. YOU ALLOW SONGS IN THE RANDOM COMMUNITY, WHICH ARTISTS CAN WE USE? for our purposes, all musical artists come from westeros/essos so have fun using whomever you please!
